Welcome to ONA Local 15. We appreciate you dropping in to visit our website which presents the activities of the Executive and members of Local 15; from our hospitals, nursing homes, homes for the aged, public health, community care access centre, clinics and developmental centre- 18 Bargaining Units strong!
Geographically we cover the area from Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Fergus, Arthur Mount Forest and Palmerston. We are over 800 members and we are invaluable to the health-care system. ONA is currently undertaking several important campaigns including the new “Better Care Starts Here” Campaign highlighting the need for more front-line Registered Nurses (RNs) and health-care professionals. ONA is also implementing a violence prevention campaign “Code White” with the key messages to reveal to all the painful reality of workplace violence. Nurses should not go to work expecting to be hurt. Please go to www.ona.org for more information.
ONA is also undertaking an important “Code Blue” campaign to educate the public on what is happening to healthcare with inadequate funding and the resulting cuts to registered nurses in this province. Click on www.ona.org for more information on the campaign.
2018 is looking to be another busy year in ONA with issues in both hospital and homes sectors as well as lots of activity in the rest of the health care sectors which include community, industry and clinics. All the sectors are represented with our Local 15 Bargaining Units. From negotiations, grievances and professional practice issues to political action, ONA and Local 15 are engaged and are here for our members.
For more detail on the issues impacting ONA’s members and to stay informed on important healthcare issues in general, please visit ONA’s website at www.ona.org. Consider following and “liking” ONA on Facebook to receive the latest updates at: https://www.facebook.com/OntarioNurses
I also encourage members to talk to their Bargaining Unit President or Site rep to find out more about the education, campaigns and resources that ONA has to offer you in valuing the work that you do and upholding the Collective Agreement in your workplace.
